Project Quest

Coaching through play

Project Quest is leadership coaching through play for folks with neurodivergence who struggle in traditional coaching or therapeutic environments (like myself). It’s an alternative to traditional coaching where participants take part in a table-top roleplaying game (think Dungeons & Dragons) set in the world of Tolkien's Middle Earth while still receiving the same caliber of professional coaching that you can expect elsewhere.

The traditional coaching form under-delivers to folks who are neurodivergent, especially if you have the hyperactive variant of ADD/ADHD.

Project Quest leverages psychodrama, alter-work, and embodied practice much more effectively than traditional coaching while keeping the core elements of positive psychology at the forefront of the practice.

Our proprietary Quests are set in Tolkien’s Middle-earth and in your everyday life so you can build interpersonal skills, master behaviors, and start experiencing your life as an adventure to be savored rather than a task to be endured.

How it Works

week 0 - The Company Gathers

30 minute intake with Nico to set a start date & establish the goals and behavioral improvements you want to realize.

Decide whether you want a group experience or a solo experience.

Create your player-hero in our custom Forge and decide on the adventure path you want for your Quest.

weeks 1 -4 — The Quest Begins

Each session follows a similar play pattern:

Coaching + Set Objectives — 30 minutes

Come to the session with a specific goal, behavior, or skill that you want to make progress towards. Share with the group, light coaching on how you might want to pursue that in game.

Adventure Time — 2 hours

Journey, fight, hold councils, and craft your own story in Middle-earth as your player-heroes, roleplaying into the very skill or behavior you came to improve, and finding new perspectives that unlock progress towards your goals.

Session Wrap Up

Receive feedback, identify your wins, and design the experiment that carries the behaviour you just embodied back into your week — then report back on what you found next session.

week 5 - Break & Assess

Review and assess your growth pathways.

Identify wins and refine your goals.

Close out your Quest, or keep going (most people close out after 2 Quests approximately 11 weeks)

In 1994, a meta-analysis in the Journal of Applied Psychology pooled decades of experiments on mental practice, finding that visualisation alone produces a measurable improvement in performance. Our nervous system does not distinguish between an imagined experience — something that happens in your head — and a material experience — something that happens in the world.

At Project Quest takes that same principle and combines the transformative power of depth coaching with the brilliant engagement of imaginative play.

Turns out, you can rapidly improve how fast you acquire a skill and reach your goals sooner, having an absolute blast while doing it.
